AAU

The Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) is one of the larger youth sports organizations in the country, offering 35 different sports programs including beach volleyball. The mission of AAU Beach Volleyball is to allow boys and girls to participate and compete in Beach Volleyball for a reasonable price (2019 membership fee is $14). As a member of AAU you may participate in any number of the 8 types of AAU sanctioned beach tournaments. Those 8 types of tournaments include: Preliminary Events, District Championships, Grand Prix Events, Regional Championships, Super Regional Championships, National Championships, National Events, and League/Invitational Events. Since the main goal of AAU is to allow juniors to play beach volleyball there are only a select few tournaments players have to qualify for to play in and those are the National Events. Most of the other tournaments AAU offers will award qualifying bids to those National Events. The main National Event those qualifying bids allows players to participate in is the West Coast AAU Junior Olympic Games, which will be held this year from July 17-21, 2019 in Santa Monica, CA.

Colorado Connection: There are a few tournaments offered in Colorado that allow players to qualify for the West Coast AAU Junior Olympic Games in Santa Monica. To learn more about those tournaments, head over to the Colo Scene Tab.
